Have you got a multimeter? Measure the voltage of the battery and if it's not 4.2v (which is when fully charged) then the charging IC has been burnt due to reverse polarity.

From your description I'm pretty confident that that has happened :( the LED should stay on for a few seconds at the very least (even doing it with a fully charged battery already it typically will stay on for more than a blink).

You have two options, either get one of those 1A charging modules and solder it to the board (IN goes to the solder holes next to the USB connector, and OUT goes to the back of the battery connector on the PCB), or send me an email and we'll sort out a return and repair!

You've obviously already learnt the hard way, but don't always trust what you read and trust what your common sense says because engineers design these things and especially for batteries if BLACK if not GND then I would never trust that engineer again :P your best bet is to work it out your self using the correct tools (so a multimeter would be invaluable here)

It sucks but could have been way worse, anything DIY with batteries people always say to check the polarity 3 times, and it's no joke! :)

Ideally the same thickness as your battery wire, i'm not sure what that is offhand but if you get silicone coated wire it makes the whole thing a lot easier. The only caveat with adding your own module is that the charging LED and the on screen charging indicator won't work.

Turnaround is usually <time taken for shipping of board> + 1 week (i work on it on weekends) + <time taken to ship on return> (I ship on Mondays).

@kite could you PM me with where to send the board to for repair? Is it just the PO Box address on the return label from the packaging?
Yes it is, I don't think i've had an email from you? Make sure it's an email and not a PM. You can email kite@kiteretro.com and i'll can reply with the details as I have a few requirements for things returned.

Thanks I'll post it tomorrow.

I didn't have the option to PM you through the forum, it just gave the option to email, which it sends through the forum, not directly from me, so maybe it's in your spam folder or something. Anyway that's fine, I'll send it asap!

Thanks again!
Ok make sure to include a note with your return address and description of the problem :)
