if that's the case, then you perhaps need a new board. I am assuming that you are either testing this outside a case or have already put some tape over the wifi module (as it gets a bit close to the back board), and if so then if you no longer see the issue we'll replace your board
send me an email and we can go from there

I am also experiencing this issue. Seems to happen when I transfer a large amount of data (games) over wifi to the roms folder. Not sure if this matters but they are psx games. It then freezes if I let it go into sleep mode and the screen dims. If I keep playing it while it downloads and it doesn't go into sleep mode, then no issues. If I shut it off it stays frozen until I push the mode button. When I turn it back on, everything returns to normal. It plays games fine and always returns to normal from sleep mode if I'm not downloading anything. Not a huge issue for me, just something to look into and be aware of.

Just wanna let Kite know that this happens to me as well when idle like transferring roms via SSH for example.

When this happens does a USB keyboard allow any interaction?
If this has recently happened, please collect the messages log file
https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Sw ... e-log-file as I'm expecting to see some kind of kernel panic/dump.

Transferring large files over as a share? Can you try using WinSCP instead?

Yes, I am transferring files over WinSCP. I don't have a USB keyboard, maybe the others would have an answer. Next time it happens I'll send you the log file. Thanks!

Hi,
I just gave it a go - if you plug in a USB keyboard when it's frozen then it's unresponsive (alt-f4 did nothing).
You can, however, SSH into the unit if you ctrl-c the processing of .bashrc and the PI seems responsive to most commands with some exceptions.
The PI did detect the keyboard okay even in the odd state: /var/log/messages

Pressing just "F4" (without alt) ?
What does this command return: vcgencmd measure_temp
Does it return in frozen state? It might be worth replacing your compute module. I think you've sent me an email, I haven't been through my mails yet so I'll reply there shortly

I tried just pressing F4 - nothing happened (actually tried all the keys).
I also tried killing all the ES processes, but the process hung and didn't seem to want to die.
I don't see this as an ES issue, as the hang is reproducible even if you terminate ES before the Pi gets into the state - you then just get a hung terminal prompt.
vcgencmd measure_temp hung.
I did email, yep. No rush

I have seen this too, during long SFTP transfers but I am not sure if it's because of the wifi on the CSO cutting out or the device actually freezing. I don't think heat is a problem, so there's something going on. For the most part though, I am not seeing much freezing in regular gameplay. I should mention that I rarely have this on for more than 30 minutes at a time.
