Burning SD Tester image OS X [SOLVED]

Post by Varthdader » Wed Dec 27, 2017 6:43 am

Hi!

I downloaded the SAIO Tester image from Github and it is 707.5 mb not 675 mb as described.

I am on OS X 10.11.6 and use Etcher but it gives an error message "Unsupported Compression Method 9" when I try to burn image to SD.

I also tried unzipping but I get a .cpgz file that is not recognized by Etcher. :?:

I am rather Noob on this front so any help appreciated!

Thanks

PS: Funny how I was not intimidated by any soldering for the SAIO at all but the software side is not my comfort zone!

Take a read here, under the install section
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-se ... stallation

Official documentation recommends Apple Pi Baker for burning images and not etcher (etcher for linux based systems)

Hope this helps

So, here's what I did in the meantime that gave me good results:
-I unzipped the downloaded file using The Unarchiver (my default was Archive Utility), that made a file of about 2.25 gb.
It seems that the zip was not compatible with Archive Utility for reasons I can´t grasp (first time I had this issue).

-I then used Etcher like I have done multiple times with other Pi images

Solved

Thanks!
