Kite Circuit Sword boot loop

Post by nickXIII » Thu Feb 22, 2018 9:24 pm

So I've got my new KCS, which is amazing so far, but I can't seem to get it up and running..I've followed Kite's guide and have tried both SAIO images but they both get to the RetroPie splash page for a second, then the screen does this weird white fade, reboots, and enters a boot loop where it does the same fade midway through the boot. I've double checked the hardware and it looks like I have everything as it should, so my only guess would be software, but I have no idea where to start..

I assume you're using the right image? You mentioned SAIO which isn't correct you should be using the CSO image: https://github.com/kiteretro/Circuit-Sw ... /tag/1.1.1

Also, do you have a battery connected? If not then that is your issue

Mine does the same - using the most recent (correct) image, I had assumed its because I haven't got a battery plugged in (and therefore the usb wasn't able to fully power the device causing it to restart). Waiting on a battery to arrive to prove my theory.

Yep, this will 99% be it. If you have another cable or another PSU to try, that may get around it but a battery will solve it :)

I have a feeling that is the issue! Well, both of those things technically. I was using the SAIO images AND USB power..guess my testing will have to wait until my battery arrives :( That said, thank you very much for the help, I'll report back in a few weeks!

confirmed that the boot loop behaviour went away for me with the addition of a battery.
