Hi all, i got my circuit sword in the mail today. i did the initial testings of the boards and installation of retropie. so far so good.
but when i try to import roms with the usb stick method, there is the problem.
I've formatted the thumb drive to FAT32. created a folder on the root called "retropie". But when i plug the stick into the backboard, nothing happens. My usb stick has a led that should blink when plugged. But here nothing.
the drive was very hard to put in the female part. i've tried with a couple different sticks, same result. i've tried with the 2 backboards, same result.
what am i doing wrong?
any clue?
thank you for your help

Are you using a regular USB stick or a USB3 stick?

I tried this and it only kind of worked. First I made a USB stick with the retropie folder. I put it in the Gameboy and booted it up, waiting until the activity light went out. I took it out and put it in my PC and saw that it made a bunch of rom system folders but not all of them. I loaded up the gba folder with a bunch of games and plugged it back in after rebooting again. Then I waited again and this time I saw that it copied over like 15 games (out of hundreds). I tried this many more times with no change. It also didn't copy over any other roms i had in other folders (ie snes). I am not sure what's causing this.
If you can't use wifi to transfer roms, I'd recommend trying to copy it over using your PC or Mac by using Paragon's extfs program. There's a 10 day trial for both systems then you can decide to buy it or keep using the trial but you'll be limited to a slower transfer rate. (I got this tip from Kite)

Thank you very much for your feedback.
i've tried plugging in a usb keyboard. it worked, so this is definitely not a hardware problem.
i'll try the paragon method.
At the moment i'm strugling with the soldering of the psp joystick... (that's pretty much the last thing left to do before assembly.

Paragon method works perfectly and transfers are much faster than wifi and USB anyway. You also have full access to the file system which matters because it allows you to easily troubleshoot issues.
