Any of the ones that use "B" .. when you rotate the volume wheel does it change the value on multimeter?

Yes!

A to B:
It changes the value from 0.00 at volume 0% to 9.32 at volume 100%

B to C:
same but reverse

ok, that all sounds perfect! So the pot works. Can you plug it in with the wires and turn it on.. put the pot to approx the middle, and measure the VOLTAGE from point A to C, and then the voltage from A to B (and C to B for the fun of it).

Right, sounds like 3.3v isn't getting to the connector on the back board.. on the CSO main board itself, that 3pin connector that you are plugging the AVOL 3pin cable in to.. with the CSO on, measure the VOLTAGE from "GND" and "3.3v" on that connector (on the back of it, you should see three silver pins that are soldered on to the PCB)..

You can repeat the same for the same connector on the AVOL board itself.. let me know those results

Both connectors (CS and Backboard) have 3.3v

Hm! Ok can you take some pictures up close of the back board, both sides please? Perhaps get soldering iron out and solder from the bottom those pins A B and C with some more fresh solder?

Right, I think it looks like the back of the 3pin connector on the Back Board isn't soldered properly, it looks to me as if it has been shifted and the pins haven't stuck to the solder.. do you think this is something you can have a go at soldering? It is possible, as these pins are 1mm apart from each other.

If you give it a go, and see if that helps.. if it all goes to pot and is messed up I'll send you a new board out! So there isn't anything to lose! Also it is possible to snip that 3pin cable and solder to those pints A B and C directly, so we've always got that as an option :P

To be honest... my soldering equipment sucks... it is the cheapest you can find... its good enough to solder 2 soda cans together  but for such tiny things its not adequat :?
