1v8 led not lighting.

Hi Kite,

I received my Circuit Sword, many thanks for that.

I am going through the basic sanity check.
So, I plug in the USB power, press the power button on the board and the 1v8 LED doesn't light up, the rest of them do.

I grab out the multimeter and I check the 1v8 meter point and I get a reading of 1.77v.

I don't know what to do next.

Hi,

That sounds ok, continue onwards! It is likely that either the diode is bad or it's missing a tiny bit of solder. 1.77v is well within spec :) let me know if there are other issues and we'll debug further!

Thanks Kite,
I have gone ahead with the rest of the testing, it works fine.

I have almost finished by build, just putting the 2 halves of the shell together when I have found that the cable for the fan is about 5mm too short.......
I mounted the fan in the cartridge to act like a blower to pull the air out through the heatsink, but it is just that tiny bit too short.
Do you know of an extension cable that I could get for it? Or what JST plug it is?

Good to know, and good for checking before :) glad it's all ok!

It's an obscure connector, there aren't extensions for it.. you have two options:

a. Cut the cable, and extend the wires while keeping the connector (probably use some really thin/flexible wire)
b. Cut the cable and add your own JST and solder to the CSO on the solder pads next to the connector (labelled + and - , these are for the fan)

:)
