Gem will only boot once

Hi folks, me again.
Maybe someone has bumped into this before and can give me some advice?
Right now if I wipe an sd card and install the gem image on it I can boot the unit once. Once I do a safe shutdown and try to turn the unit back on it'll just hang at the kite logo. If I wipe the card and put it back in it'll boot again? Either way I've tried 2 different sd cards just to make sure but no luck
