Sorry complete 3D newbie here.

I'm starting my next project and I want to build the shell from wood, instead of 3D Printing it and was wondering if its possible to open the STL file and get a technical diagram with all measurements on it. So I can base my shell from there designs or do I need to start from scratch?

Stl is a format for production only. If you want to create a clean drawing, a solid file like Step would be better (not a converted stl file).

You can use freecad to get the dimensions from the STL file and make a clean new model or draw by hand.

Thanks I will see what I can find out with freecad.

I usually import stl files into blender. However its not that precise. Its more for decorative stuff.
