VMU Buttons

Post by vinomer » Sat May 04, 2019 12:12 am

Has anyone thought about using actual buttons for the VMU instead of the flimsy silicone it comes with?
I was thinking about maybe drilling the button holes a little bigger to accommodate for slightly bigger buttons, something like joycon size buttons for A B X Y or even buttons for L1/R1. Possibly as small as the Options buttons on the Xbox One controller.
ANY ideas?

If you can make them fit it might not be a bad idea. But I haven't seen anyone do it yet.

Here is an idea I came up with, it's not the best looking but it does the job. I had an old remote control sitting in the garage, so I took two of the buttons, grinded them down a bit, glued them to PSP buttons using JBWeld Epoxy. I then took two NDS buttons (this works with two PSP buttons that were left over as well), slightly drilled into the bottom, dropped some JBWeld epoxy into the hole, and then inserted tip of the tactile switch into the hole, let it dry.

This is the final result. Sadly I haven't been able to find buttons small enough for the XY.
