I assembled a few PCB while making build instructions and would like to offer the Pre-assembled PCB for $24.99. Quantity is very limited. OLED is available as an option. VMU, Battery and Pi are not included. Shoot me a PM if you want to check the stock.

Just got mine, thanks!
Can't wait to put it together, still waiting for a few parts tough.
I am going to strip my pi as much as I can and ordered 5 different batteries to try and fit in.

Got mine working finally (thx satri who pretty much did 95% of the work for me!).

Gameboy, NES, Pico8 and GameGear are perfectly playable. Gameboy is the best because of rather large font sizes in games.

It uses the artbook-micro theme which works perfectly well.

Screws on top and for battery are cut and glued in place. The Sound is actually perfectly OK and loud enough using the stock speaker!

I currently have a 400mah battery in there but enough room for a 800mah. I still have a few vmu's left, so I will wait for satri's v2 and kite's as well, I just love the look/form factor of the vmu!

Great job. I like how you put all of the screws back to the original positions. Looks solid!
Please share with us if you are able to fit the 800mAh battery in it.

400mAh: Cellevia Batteries LP403035
450mAh: Cellevia Batteries LPHD372466
800mAh: Cellecia Batteries LP453350

The 400mAh fits easily, I just shortened the cable a bit, I even had to add some padding so that the Battery flap thing stays in place.
The 450mAh (the long one) would fit with a simple additional case modification at the top to sandwitch it in.
The 800mAh needs to be stripped of the tape around the board and you will have to cut a bit of the material left and right so it fits between the screw things. Its a tight fit but it does close. But some additional modifications are needed for the cable, they need to be replaced with thinner ones and routed out and back in again to fit.

Are the wires needed or can you just through hole solder the Pi to the PCB?

I fitted the 800mAh today.
Works just fine and it is a perfect fit...so perfect that there is absolutely no room for anything else.
Meaning, I lost the speaker :/ I have about 7x9x6mm to fit one at the bottom, maybe from a phone?
I had to do a few small case modifications to route the cables (original ones were too thick and were replaced)
The cable needs to go outside the case because even the cable adds way too much for it to close, but it hides nicely in the lid.
