Screen Surround
Re: Screen Surround
Did you end up getting any made up with glass? Or just acrylic?
Also, I was thinking about a square one as well rather than cover the bottom right hand corner off my fancy vga screen. Can you offer more square ones with the graphics attached also?
Thanks

Re: Screen Surround
Yes I can make a square decal, pm me with your design. I have ditched the glass for now, as although the glass is toughened, I managed to break one just by putting it away in a box. I don't know how it broke but after the effort of applying the sticker, I was pretty fed up.Spleen21 wrote:Did you end up getting any made up with glass? Or just acrylic?

Re: Screen Surround
if anyone is interested in what makes these surrounds, here is how I make them.
First, the clear vinyl is reverse printed with the design:
Then this is covered in white vinyl and then it is prescision cut.
So then the printed sticker is removed from the backing paper and taped to the cutting board:
It is sprayed with some water containging a small amount of dish soap. This is to remove any air bubbles.
I then place my template over the decal and check the positioning with a eye glass:
The center part of the sticker is left in at this point, I have found that the decal can move around if it is taken out.
So then the acrylic is placed on the decal:
The center section is removed:
And there you go, a finished screen:

Thanks,Rod2D2 wrote:Wow Dominator, Thanks for sharing your process. Didn't realize so much effort and precision went into these.
I now have the alignment and size nailed, though the person who does the laser cutting is a bit slow.
If anyone who has contacted me for a screen and hasn't heard from me lately, please pm or email me. What with everything going on in my personal life, I have lost track of some orders

Re: Screen Surround
Hi Dom,
I would like to buy one of the original colour ones with GameBoy Zero on it as shown above, if possible!
[edit: found it already on your website, will order there!]

Re: Screen Surround
@dominator out of curiousity, any chance of printing the design on a type of sticker / adhesive paper, so that the back along the design can be peeled off, and then just stuck onto the gameboy?
