Alcore23 Project

Post by alcore23 » Tue Sep 20, 2016 12:28 pm

Hey everyone!

I started my project taking inspiration of all the great ideas I have seen on this forums, so thank you very much!

I am using:
-GBZ Button PCB With Audio from Helder.

-BW 3.5 Inch TFT LCD Monitor for Car / Automobile from e-life.

-OSOYOO Pro Micro ATmega32U4 5V/16MHz

I want to use the original battery compartment so I will be using 4 NI-MH rechargeable batteries. I will have to remove them to charge them but for now I'm ok with that. That also gives me more room on the inside to organize better all the components.

I am designing my custom fitted parts and 3D-printing them. I guess I just don't like the hot glue very much :D . The project is not completed but if you are interested on those files I will be uploading them on PinShape.

Check this post for information if you want to buy the STL to print on your own or a printed part shipped via USPS

*I used the hydrogen peroxide method found on internet and it worked wonderfully!! I went to a beauty slon products store and asked the clerk for hydrogen peroxide for bleaching hair, they sold me a 6oz bottle for $5. I washed the case with an old toothbrush and toothpaste, let it dry and then applied, fully covered, the hydrogen peroxide with a little brush. I dump the leftover hydrogen peroxide on a big Ziploc bag and put both all parts on it ensuring that they were always covered by the cream. Put it on the sun for 1 hour and it was good to go! Washed all the parts with plenty of water and let it dry. DISCRAD THE LEFTOVER HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AND ALWAYS USE GLOVES!.

**UPDATE**

Post by alcore23 » Tue Sep 27, 2016 11:08 am

Hi,

I made some changes to the screen frame to improve the stability and the feeling of the buttons. I will attach the frame to the case using epoxy. The three holes on the top I added so I could use a screw to attach the next section that will hold the raspberry pi and also includes the posts that hold the case together (and had to be cut to fit the screen).

I'm, going to reuse the PCB from the DMG to take advantage of the location of the power button and volume control. I also believe that I can modify the DMG port to fit a USB, at least until I get around to design my own on KiCAD.

Yes, sure. You can send me a PM and we could arrange a way use paypal or something similar to pay for shipping. Other alternative is the design is available through shapeways.

I have not done shoulder buttons yet. I am waiting for some vertical push buttons from china and once I get them I hope to come up with an idea :D I will post any update on that. My priority has been to re-design the top board for the volume, power switch and a USB port.

UPDATE Alcore23 Project

Post by alcore23 » Wed Oct 12, 2016 12:30 pm

I have just received my vertical SPST throw switches and mini HDMI connectors. I also found that the plastic used for the screen protector can be bought at HOBBY LOBBY in sheets. So I cut my first try and it looks good, but since I have two sheets I believe that I have to give another try until it looks perfect!.

I have been working on a custom PCB that will contain the safe shutdown system with a reset button, volume potentiometer and one USB port.

As soon as I have pictures of the build I will post them.

Thank you all for your help and support.
