It's really cool!

Got it booting straight into 'splorer' so it works fine with the minimal keys I have mapped to the joysticks. Did make it shutdown after the pico8 process ends, but I have yet to find a way to exit, even when I had a full keyboard for testing.
Get a small cheep LCD in your project https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312
Wrap it all round a battery https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2292
Or use a custom PCB to make it really small https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2512
or make it really really really really tiny!! https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2919

In splore mode there is a menu option or if you end up in the console, type 'shutdown' without quotes. Obvs hard without the full keyboard...

I never found the menu inside splore, although to be fair i was still sulking about how long it took me to fix my cacky typing in the config file!!

I found this while i was googling about

https://guillermoamaral.com/read/picopi/

I like the idea. you can simply drop the files onto a plain old fat32 SD card, and it will all just boot from there, no complicated image writing. I couldnt actually get it to work, but it got me thinking a custom install like that would make the mekka of a poco-8 portable more 'normal'

quick startup times, protected os files so you dont break anything by just turning it off, and everything 'baked in' so it all just works 8-)

Ah yes. I've seen that before but it was still a proto-project when I last saw it. that might be perfect for the VMU(*IF I can tailor it to use gpio buttons and it'll work with a PiZW WiFi)

well i tried it on a normal zero, with a 512mb sd card :o and all i got was a blank screen on HDMI, although with last nights antics, it is highly likely that i did something wrong.

i was tempted to contact the guy, see if he fancied rolling a new version that works with the tft instead of HDMI
