Hm, it doesn't charge at all? Or just charges much slower? I was measuring the current-draw while it was on, I believe it was 400something mA. I will double check tonight.Sirlias wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 10:53 amThat is really interesting because I recently finished a build using an SNES controller and fitting a pi zero, powerboost 500, and 500mAh Lipo battery inside the controller and it definitely cannot play and charge at the same time. maybe it's because I'm using the HDMI for video and audio? Not sure.

Re: mintyPi 2.0
Would there be any difference purchasing the ILI9341 instead of the ILI9340C you showed here?wermy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 10:38 am• And this is the screen I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252135075697?_t ... 2749.l2649
Re: mintyPi 2.0
I don't have the means to measure current draw or anything but I was watching for the red LED light on the PB 500 and plugged into it when the light came on. I kept playing to see what would happen and the whole thing died a minute or two later. I figured that meant plugging in to get more playing time wasn't an option. That was my super high tech experiment to determine if I could charge and play at the same time.wermy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 10:57 amHm, it doesn't charge at all? Or just charges much slower? I was actually wondering about the ILI9225 myself as amazon has them on Prime:rednakes wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:02 amWould there be any difference purchasing the ILI9341 instead of the ILI9340C you showed here?wermy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 10:38 am• And this is the screen I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252135075697?_t ... 2749.l2649

But I'm worried the extra 3.6ish mm depth would be an issue.

I'm using fbtft to drive it, so I'm sure you could get about any screen working: https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki/LCD-Modulesrednakes wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:02 amWould there be any difference purchasing the ILI9341 instead of the ILI9340C you showed here?wermy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 10:38 am• And this is the screen I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252135075697?_t ... 2749.l2649
The big thing is size. If you want to use the 3d-printed parts then it'll have to be the same size as the one I used.
Yeah that would be a problem for sure. I already have to remove the SD card reader and header pins. There is about 1mm clearance behind the board for the misc resistors and stuff on the screen I used.Sirlias wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:10 amI was actually wondering about the ILI9225 myself as amazon has them on Prime:

Re: mintyPi 2.0
The PowerBoost 1000 isn't much larger than a 500 physically, so if it fits, I'd go with one of those.

Re: mintyPi 2.0
Yeah. The 500 is a little cheaper and usually easier to find, though. Plus there is something to hold it in place in the 3d-printed plate that goes in the bottom, so they aren't really interchangeable in that regard, unfortunately:obsidianspider wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:25 amThe PowerBoost 1000 isn't much larger than a 500 physically, so if it fits, I'd go with one of those.
It would be easy to modify the model if you wanted, though.

Edit: I just remembered there is a coil that sticks up on the board. Depending on the position of that on the 1000 vs. the 500, that could be a problem as well (it's too tall to fit directly below the pi).
Re: mintyPi 2.0
Much larger is a relative term when it comes to mm tolerances every little bit counts.obsidianspider wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:25 amThe PowerBoost 1000 isn't much larger than a 500 physically, so if it fits, I'd go with one of those.

Re: mintyPi 2.0
I totally understand. I'm running into that with my Pi 3 GBA build as well as my VMU build.Sirlias wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:38 amMuch larger is a relative term when it comes to mm tolerances every little bit counts.obsidianspider wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2017 11:25 amThe PowerBoost 1000 isn't much larger than a 500 physically, so if it fits, I'd go with one of those.
