Flickering white screen; at wit's end
Hi;
I recently started building a MintyPi of my own using Wermy's PCB and a 2.2" ILI9341 LCD. I didn't have a ribbon cable for the thing, so I soldered wires connecting the PCB to the screen. The thing boots; I can SSH into RetroPie on my desktop and FTP files to/from the device. The SD card also boots properly on other Raspberry Pi units and via HDMI. However, when I try to use it on the MintyPi setup, all I get is a flickering white/black screen, with occasional lines of green and blue. I'm not sure what to do about this.
I've tried numerous things; the short list includes:
- Reinstalling the fbtft drivers from the ground up
- Just plain old RetroPie and not the image specifically for MintyPi
- This tutorial: https://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... 31760697a0
- This guide: https://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=3895
- Switching SDI/SDO wires
- Other SD cards
- Made sure none of the pins are touching
- Made sure no solders are bridged
- Checked continuity between points via multimeter
And I've gotten nowhere.

The above are details of my soldering as well as what's going on with the screen. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hmm. Seems you tried a lot... maybe you got unlucky and have a bad screen?
If continuity is good not sure what else.

Did you try a different clock frequency for the SPI screen?

I haven't tried this yet, although, I'm not entirely sure how to set that. How do I?

Re: Flickering white screen; at wit's end
If following moosepr's guide see this : using the minty pi image will be similar. But the conf file may be located elsewhere.
"
sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/fbtft.conf
and inside the text editor, we neeed to add the following information (the file will probably be empty
options fbtft_device name=fb_ili9341 gpios=reset:25,dc:24,led:18 speed=16000000 bgr=1 rotate=90 custom=1
"
You can change the speed in there. I use 80000000 - 99000000

Everything about this image - https://i.imgur.com/jD6hwOE.jpg - screams defective display to me. It looks like that screen is toast.

Re: Flickering white screen; at wit's end
It is pretty common to have the white screen. But having the weird blue lines is what makes me think it might be toast.

Re: Flickering white screen; at wit's end
I guess I should have elaborated, but that is my thought as well. It looks like pressure or possibly too much heat was applied to the display unit. The blue line and the pink blotch are what signals to me that it is a dead stick.

Re: Flickering white screen; at wit's end
LOL I should apologize, that's the sticker covering the screen. Those aren't actually there.
(In other news, I haven't gotten around to trying anything new lately. Hence the lack of replies.)
