Finally built my MintyPi

Post by Drake Sirlit » Mon Feb 12, 2018 6:29 pm

I preordered my button PCB when Helder was doing his second batch and just now got around to ordering everything I needed to finish the build. Last part arrived on Friday so I hunkered down for the weekend and got to work.

This is my first project like this (although I have built micro quadcopters that required small soldering) and I think it turned out pretty good. I don't have any in progress pictures but I wanted to post here to thank everyone that made this project possible. Below is the finished project. I incorporated a 3.5 mm audio jack thanks to ilike56k in the back and put the function button next to the power switch.

Actually the MinyPi symbol was made by my mom out of vinyl on her cricut.

That looks really good! I have to know, though - where did you get the PCB? I haven't been able to find a single one over the past few months.

As mentioned in my OP I got it when Helder was making the second run of parts in October IIRC. As a professional procrastinator I just recently got the rest of the parts to build it.

Charging shouldn't take a couple hours, right? How do I go about testing the charger to male sure it's charging at the correct amperage?

Edit: to clarify my question, do I have to unsolder the battery from the charger to properly test it?

Charging might take a few hours, I'm trying to remember how long mine take to charge. Leave it plugged in for a while and see if he charged indicator light comes on first. You can also just us a multi meter to check the voltage on the battery contacts, no need to desolder anything.

I'm going off my knowledge of charging lipos for RC vehicles. I have never even has 6s 1400mah lipos take more than an hour to charge. If this is normal for the XCSOURCE TP4056 then I can live with it but I have 1s 600mah lipos for small helicopters as well and those take about 20 minutes to charge. Different charging setup though obviously.
