YACSOB - Yet another Circuit Sword (Original) build :)
Re: YACSOB - Yet another Circuit Sword (Original) build :)
Thanks! Some hotglue is left in the mesh that needs to be cleaned up. The hole is actually quite accurate (looks a bit distorted on the picture) and the light show that happens inside while the CSO is running is really nice to look at.
You can also actually feel the fan blowing out if you manage to get it to run (had to overclock to quite ridiculous levels and play N64 for 2 hours while covering the hole). If you play normally, even overclocked I cannot get it to 80°

I really like your idea in making a cooling window in the reason of rework previous wrong holes. I will keep this in mind during my next build.

the mesh looks ok (some good thinking)...smoki86 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 1:57 pm
EDIT:
And tomorrow I am going to make it even worse! I think I will remove the entire area that is now covered in holes to install a "window" cut from plexi glass or the metal mesh I used for the ducts and install kites board where it was supposed to go in the first place...
especially as its an after thought....
you could also consider adding a 3D printed part....
maybe modify any of these to make them work (or come up with your own)...

but as is, it still looks good...
nice work...

Re: YACSB - Yet another Circuit Sword build :)
You know what...I was already trying to cut some plastic sheets yesterday before I went with the mesh.
I didn't even consider to 3d print something and the printer was just 1-2 feet away...
I think I am going to keep the mesh underneath and print a 3mm black pla border with a retropie logo in the middle. That will cover the bits of glue on the side as well as any imperfections in my cutting job. It will also hopefully look like the border from the screen so I can get a "theme" going!
Thanks!

Going to print it in all black first. I ordered some red pla to print the retropi logo.

I used the CSO, so not a lot of wiring involved.
You can see the pinout here: https://www.adafruit.com/product/444
And kite included a cable that just has to be matched up to the connector on the CSO (which is labeled).
EDIT: And a small tipp: orient it like shown in hoolyhoo's bracket, that way you do not have to invert any axis!

Thanks Smoking. What I ment was: do I need to solder the câble on both hand (on the joystick and on the PCB) or is there a 4 pin plug on the joystick? What length of cable do I need? The full length provided by kite?
