Closing the holes from LED's -> my clean solution

Post by cybergenetic » Wed Jul 11, 2018 1:04 am

Hey everybody...

I have Kites circuit sword. So i have to drill 4 x 2mm holes for the led's on top.

But how to close them? I have f*cked up my case with hot glue. This s**t won't get into the holes....
So... I had another idea... I have found led's with a long "tube" on it... (They ar calles "tower led's")... So, why not cut them an put through the holes?

Said and done. See the Pic's

P.S. I'm german, so forgive my little bad english
P.P.S. The link to the led's: https://www.ebay.de/itm/S216-10-Stück-T ... 0699433825

greetings from germany
Jan

That's awesome, i was trying to find a good light pipe solution myself but couldn't think of anything that would fit right. What I ended up using was an oral irrigator (a type of syringe) with a tip slightly smaller than the holes and filled it with acrylic caulk. I added a piece of transparent tape on the inside of the case behind the holes and used the irrigator to fill the holes. I'll add some images later.

Edit: I ended up just creating a separate thread to keep from intruding on this one.

I used epoxy. Taped over the holes on the outside of the case and filled the holes with epoxy. Worked awesome.
