Rodocop's 15th GBZ

Post by rodocop » Wed Aug 08, 2018 12:32 pm

Hey again, so i finished one more. I was contacted by a forum member to build one fore them See some pics below. I have used an OEM grey shell, with some purple SNES buttons. I think it looks really nice.

This one is using a 3.2" SPI screen (using veteran gamers handy SPI adapter boards), this also means that I do not need a boost module, so everything is powered right from the battery using a TP4056 charger. I also have a barrel port installed in the original DC port for charging to keep the stock look and reduces mods to the case.

This one is using i2s audio. I have in game volume controls set up, because I find the volume wheel adds unwanted noise. I have one installed just to fill the port hole.

Also using and ADS1015, with hoolyhoo's script for battery monitoring, used a fork of his by sixteenbit, the only difference is the icon. They are white instead of green.

Using a common ground PCB (Helder`s OSH park boards), wired to the pi`s GPIO`s, the shoulder buttons are soft tactile buttons using a bracket designed by littleferris. they work great, and utilize DMG buttons.

Nice work! Those SPI screens are definitely a massive improvement over the composite ones.

yeah, they really look nice, now we just need someone to make a run of screen covers with a bit thicker border. I have resorted to electrical tape in this one.

another great build (good job)......

theres already someone that can supply you with a screen surround for the SPI screens.....

https://www.bluishsquirrel.co.uk/produc ... creen-lens
(also a forum member, listing somewhere in the For Sale section)

this is the one he made for me, an exact copy of the DIY i did on the SNES build (i've updated the build with it)....
(he also has the template now, so you can get him to design however you want it)

I had seen that before (in your showoff thread), and I'm not sure why it hasn't occurred to me for my last 3 builds.....I will be looking into that for future builds for sure!
