it was a custom PCB....
i designed it myself
(but its really based of Helder common ground)
and this is something that i would highly recommend/suggest that everyone has a go at doing....
(if i can do it, then anyone can do it)
it not rocket science
(but there are levels to this, and starting at the bottom isn't as difficult as people might think)
i have no electrical or design background....
and Google and YouTube are definitely a wash with a great amount a help
(and to the most part the Sudomod community.... when they can be bothered to get back to you )

I like your mini joystick design. Reminds me of the some of the joysticks used for Neo Geo hardware (Neo Geo CD joypad / Neo Geo Pocket / Neo Geo Pocket Color).

Re: Veteran's 4th "NO Dpad BUILD" (Arcade Edition)
Thanks....
but its a bit of a stretch to say it looks like the NeoGeo Pocket....
but i can maybe see what your saying about the NG CD Pad (but still a stretch)....
Maybe if you said the 3DS i'd say you've got a good eye, especially as that's where the thumb cap comes from....
but if its any consolation, the idea for the build did come from someone that uses NeoGeo sticks in builds (they look different)
Thanks....

Beautiful work as always, veteran. I saw this when you first posted it and was inspired to try my own. I'm using Eric's all-in-one board and I have a custom-designed mount for the Nintendo switch Joy con. I was hoping you wouldn't mind sharing your process or configuration on the software side. For myself, as well as others who may want to attempt this style of build, would you mind sharing what you did on the software end for the joystick setup?

i just used adafruit Retrogame....
the joystick that i used isnt setup as an analog stick/joystick, so i could wire directly up to the GPIO (its works perfectly)
personally, if building with a Pi Zero... i dont feel you actually need/benefit from an analog stick, no even additional to a dpad...
(there aren't systems or games that the Pi Zero plays well that really require or gains or enhances the gameplay from it... just MHO)
you will most probably have to look at adding a micro controller (pro mico or teensy).....
this is why i avoided using an analog stick....
not sure what script would be suitable....
but i would look at what people have used in arcade cabinets, as that might be the most suitable (but not sure)....
