hey this looks really great! i'm having trouble getting it to load tho. i copied the folders over from the github to a folder in the themes dir, and i get it to show up as an option in my es themes, but none of the artwork displays. does it need an xml in the root? i've only installed from the gallery before, so i'm sure i'm missing something.
Where exactly did you put the folder? Also what version of ES are you using?

well, first, i just tried to follow the "obsolete" install i found at the gbz35 github (thanks rxbrad):
https://github.com/rxbrad/es-theme-gbz35

that got it to show on the list, based on how the folder was named, but it just looks like the basic, stripped-down theme when it loads - no art.

then i think i found something online about another themes folder to copy to on the pi somewhere, but i'd have to look around for that location again, under home somewhere maybe.

i'm not sure where to tell the es ver. i poked around, but couldn't find it. i had run the retropie updates before trying that stuff up there, so i think it should be current. i just kicked off the package manager to explicitly update it, but that's taking some time.

Since the theme's on GitHub, you could try installing with this command (basically the same way retropie-setup does it):

Code: Select all

sudo git clone --recursive --depth 1 "https://github.com/winnetouch/lores-retropie-theme.git" "/etc/emulationstation/themes/lores-retropie-theme"
...and then updating as needed with...

Code: Select all

cd "/etc/emulationstation/themes/lores-retropie-theme";sudo git reset --hard;sudo git pull;sudo git submodule update --init --recursive

Nice, the standard pixel art themes are some of my favorites, goes well with the retro games.

I fixed some minor issues in this theme. I'm revisiting some of my old projects. Is anyone interested in adding any more new systems to this long overdue project? Just give me suggestions and I can add them. Seeing as how I have a bit more free time now due to the imposed quarantine where I'm from :P.
