Re: No Game Pad Detected :-(
Good luck. The GPIO button config is straightforward just follow it exactly.
One thing to note: Once you've worked through the guide and reboot i find it still says 'no gamepad detected' however press and hold a button and it will then detect it ready for configuration.

Re: No Game Pad Detected :-(
Hi Lphilimore
Thanks for the help and encouragement.
I have the GPIO soldered and programed I managed to figure out the ftp and PuTTy it was working at work but not at home. But now I got it going at home too!
When I try to connect it up, down, left (sometimes shows as left sometimes as esc?) right work. B works Y works Start sometimes works
L and R work
X and A and Select don't work?
Not sure what the deal is but I think I need to re-solder some connections

Re: No Game Pad Detected :-(
did you follow this guide: viewtopic.php?t=57 ?? (this is the guide i've always followed)
As for the buttons, make sure there are no bridged connections between the buttons, everything is pretty close together on the PCB and the GPIO's it's not unheard of to have a bridged connection that is hard to see.
Also, worst case, try a fresh image of retropie, and set up the controls from scratch again...

Re: No Game Pad Detected :-(
Im gonna get another board and resolder I butchered this one I think. Im a little rust at soldering and it was the first thing I soldered. I can see that the select button is damaged for sure.
Re: No Game Pad Detected :-(
I do want to learn and help others I am trying to also give back to this forum for helping me so much. Im trying to map out this project and provide a complete and correct diagram for the cheaper pcb. If anyone sees anything incorrect I can easily change it

Re: No Game Pad Detected :-(
Sorry I've only just seen these replies. Ive not had these issues before. The fact certain inputs are working suggest bridged connections like rodocop says as the code is the same.
Those simple PCBs are cheap so if you have a spare use it. That said you could desolder the wires, clean it up and start fresh. I haven't seen an image of this 'butchered' board so hard to say.
Also, looking at your diagram I cannot see where your audio is coming from?? Assume you're using PWM as i cant see a USB sound card.
Finally, there's a USB port on your diagram. In the absence of a USB hub i assume you'll wire GND and 5v to your power board and data wires to the data pads on the pi (22 + 23).
Let us know
