New GBZ Build, New to Electronics
Re: New GBZ Build, New to Electronics
thank you.
i think i want to hook up the usb first. right now, i cant get any games on my pi without it, therefore wont be able to test sound.
so as far as that goes... how does the wiring go? wermy glossed over it a bit in his videos.
edit: for now, I borrowed a usb to mini usb adapter so I can hook the keyboard to the pi so I can hook it up to wifi

For USB follow the diagram on the top right. For a female usb. Make sure you have yours oriented properly, and wire like it shows there to one of the spare USB places on the pcb.

Also check here to set the pi up on wifi without a keyboard. And you can wirelessly transfer roms.

Re: New GBZ Build, New to Electronics
if your wiring is still like this.....
then you've wired it incorrectly, which is most probably why it wont recognise a gamepad.....
if your following diagrams, try to follow them properly....
just as a rule of thumb....
D+ is normally Green
D- is normally White
you have it correctly wired to the Pi Zero....
but its not correct on the AIO....
an easy fix would be just swap the wires around on the Pi Zero (the colours will be incorrect, but you avoid butchering the AIO)
if you have wired the correctly (differently to the image)....
then also try twisting the wires, to reduce any interference as the wires are also quite long.....

Re: New GBZ Build, New to Electronics
If you are new to electronics, the cheap wires from a usb-cable are not good for you, you need to solder them very fast. You are melting the cable sheath. Use solder with flux.

Re: New GBZ Build, New to Electronics
Just looking af your last photos it looks like you have a bridge on the pi. Where the greenwire is soldered to, make sure the solder blob is not touching the hole beside it at all. That will ground it and then it will not work.

Re: New GBZ Build, New to Electronics
Gotcha, thanks. Ill work on it. I ordered some 28AWG wire.
My session today will be to remove the wires and clean it up a bit. Tomorrow I will attempt to neatly attach those wires (twisted)
