Drilling the extra button holes in the GBZ and THEN making the buttons is one thing. But how are you guys matching the holes you drill to the pads on the pre-made PCBs? Seems like they would be really hard to see and easy to mess up.
Probably a dumb question, but I'm just wondering.
Matching button holes with pre-made ABXY PCB?
Re: Matching button holes with pre-made ABXY PCB?
It's not very difficult when you have premade PCBs.
Put PCB under tracing paper -> put front case over PCB pads -> rub graphite against the edges -> line up A/B holes with the southern graphite trace -> flip the case and paper over and your holes are now lined up to where the PCB will be.
This is how i did mine and it came out quite well. I messed up a tiny bit and made a weird shaped hole but the method itself is effective since you cut out having to measure .6 cm from the A/B holes and it's guaranteed to line up with the PCB.

A couple of the guys also include either a buyable template or a printout that you can use. Easy as lining things up.ylwsub68 wrote:Drilling the extra button holes in the GBZ and THEN making the buttons is one thing. The pcbs are all made with the same measurements. They're either 0.6mm or .7mm apart if I remember correctly.ylwsub68 wrote:Drilling the extra button holes in the GBZ and THEN making the buttons is one thing. The first one in that link is probably more useful - the second one isn't to scale.
