BW Screen Backlight Not Working

I've attached some pics so you can see whats going on. (sorry the cable colors aren't standard)
So the picture will show but the back light doesn't seem to work. I tried it on a brand new pi zero and it still doesn't seem to work so the problem must lie in the screen/board. The only things being used are the pi, the board, and the screen, ignore the other stuff it isn't connected to this pi. Did I mess up the wiring? Is the board converted to 5v incorrectly?

Did you get this issue resolved? Just got the same board and I'm trying to figure out the correct wiring.

Hi,
did you check, that the display is working before making the 5V modification?
Maybe you had been shipped a defective board.
