Button Height with Screen Bracket

Post by Fish17 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 7:39 am

This is my first build, so go easy one me :)

I’m using HoolyHoo’s screen bracket.

What has everyone done to align the A B X Y button heights. The screen bracket raises the button slightly so the A B sticks out more.

Ideally I use the same DMG buttons for all 4.

One option I was considering was to cut the first layer of the 3D printed bracket so the X Y button tabs don’t sit on the bracket but rather use it as a guide but I’m concerned this will mess up the feel of the X Y buttons as there will be more friction with the tab guides of the bracket.

Another option was to use a shorter height button for A B like the SNES X & Y or NES buttons but then those would be Concave and the X Y raised which is backwards compared to the SNES controller.

I usually cut the 3d bracket so the button rests on the gameboy shell. Not the 3d part. Then if needed I'll put a little shim inside the button to raise it up a bit if needed. (Using a hole punch on the plastic screen covers works good for this)

This was one option I was considering but I worried I’ll mess up the bracket. What do you use to cut the bracket? Exacto knife?

yeah, just an x-acto knife. and some flush cutters. It might not be necessary, but it's what i've always done in the past.
