Battery not working with Kites Circuit Sword

Post by vinomer » Sun Jul 29, 2018 9:46 am

After finishing up my install, I tried booting the device.... But nothing happened.

When this 4,000mah battery (smaller text) is connected, the device doesn't turn on at all. However, when the battery is disconnected, it does turn on.

Now, when I connect this other 4,000mah battery (large bold text), the unit comes on, but the charging wire has to be connected at all times. As soon as I remove the wire, the entire unit shuts off, the battery never having been charged.

I'm not sure what the issue is, I have another larger 5,000mah battery that does the same thing as the first one (not turn on).

From the picture it looks like you haven't checked the polarity of the battery connector. It looks like you have red to - and black to + (if you soldered them this way on purpose then you can ignore this as a suggestion, but I can only go by the pics!).

If that's the case, then swap the battery polarity around (you can remove the pins from the connector, just be VERY careful.. batteries are dangerous) and if you are lucky you can plug it in and it'll work.. you will need to check that it then charges (the BLUE LED on the board) .. because there is a very high chance that a reverse polarity kills the charging part of the chip ;) which unfortunately you'd need to return to me to repair + cost.. so fingers crossed for you that I'm completely wrong here!

Just a warning to any one else reading, the guides state very clearly about 3 times to check the polarity.. it's marked clearly on the boards.. and all future boards will have some great big text and an arrow pointing to the connector saying something like "CHECK POLARITY" .. in future, any reverse polarity issues will not be repaired by me (due to the warning being placed in so many locations), so you all have been warned ;) in those cases, I will of course be able to do a full price replacement, but no repairs.
