Long splash screen adding to load time?

Im wondering if having a long splash movie on my pi zero will add to the overall boot time or will the pi boot in the background while the movie plays? Does anyone know the answer to this?

you know, i was wondering the same and was thinking about actually setting up some more controlled tests, because i have some imgs that have short videos and some with long ones, and the shorter ones definitely do seem to get to the ES screen quicker... but it's not really a "scientific study", since there are lots of other differences on the imgs
