Raspi 3 compute module coming soon!

If they can pack RPi3 power into that small a chip then new models of zero/pi3 may be close to announcement too?

That is really interesting. I wonder what DIY application we'll see though since it isn't as friendly for a common user.

The pi3 compute module is made for the industrial/business side of things. It says on the raspberry pi website
"The Compute Module is primarily designed for those who are going to create their own PCB"
This module is a very stripped version of the pi3 and not a redesigned smaller version.
They even developed a "motherboard" for this module for custom system designs but that's the pi3 already.
This really isn't for us as far as "weekend warrior tinkerers" go.
A bit misleading when I read "a smaller version of the pi3 is coming". Nah, just a pi3 with no clothes on!!

This article does have me wish that they made a pi zero with pi3 power.

Yeah seriously. Take off that camera thing and pack it full of chips. It doesn't have to be $5, i would pay so much more than that for a zero sized chip that's a powerhouse.

Absolutely. They can even replace the USB ports with solder pads and Just keep the hdmi port. They would probably make room for the audio.
