Huh. I referenced the config.txt documentation and thought i read something about it not being able to be done but i guess i imagined it. Do you mind sharing your config file settings when you get a chance? I really want to play a bunch of GBA games so i'll be heartbroken if the zero can't do it.
I'll try to recreate them. I actually zapped the SD card I had been using trying out one of the SD cartridge PCBs. :(

What games have you been trying? I've been able to open a lot of the GBA's running stock. Wanting to try the games you're thinking of and see if I have the same results.

Also are you guys using a real GBA bios file? There is a sort of fake one that works but I believe doesn't work as well.

Specifically (in order of importance):
Final fantasy tactics advance
metroid fusion/zero mission
Megaman battle network series
pokemon ruby
mario and luigi superstar saga
golden sun
Advance wars
fire emblem
Castlevania aria of sorrow
I haven't tested the games yet (i will when i get home though) so i don't actually know how it performs.

I tried Betroid Fusion and a Castlevania (I think it was Aria of Sorrow) and they worked well enough that I was happy.

Iam running stock Rpi0 1.3 (the new one with camera connection) and started all of those games without as much as a hiccup. Didn't put any time into playing them, but I got past all the intro screens into the "select your name" screen with no problems.

Let me know if you need help, but OC doesn't look to be needed for GBA.

You need a GBA bios file for emulation? o.o Only emulators i knew that needed one was for playstations. I guess emulation on linux is a lot different than emulation on windows.

You do know about putting gba_bios.bin in the /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS right? Just a friendly check. :)

Not really. Is that the only console i need to do that for? I'll look for some reputable bios places.
