Just to update, the BW screen I received from EPATHDEALS on Amazon was v7, worked on 5v without modification. Ordered on the date of my last post in this thread.

I settled on:

Code: Select all

disable_overscan=1
overscan_top=8
overscan_bottom=8
overscan_left=0
overscan_right=0

(left and right don't seem to matter once you set top and bottom). I started with SNES and those settings fit it perfectly top to bottom. There's 1/8" of black on the left and right. I switched to every emulator I have (SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, NES, Atari 2600) and they all have the same fit—looks great!

Hey I was wondering if you could explain how to change the settings like this or change the code as you did. I'm new to doing that part of it? Walk through perhaps somewhere. I have his screen too. Thanks

You could look for a datasheet of this voltage regulator. Or you can measure the pins of the IC against your ground. The one where you can measure 5V will the the one to solder you V(in) to.

btw: laughed at the filename of your picture ;)
Hey :)

The sad thing is, i do not find any usefull information about this regulator on the web :( - it is a JW5022 EP117CF
Anyway, I measured my way through - the Diode (marked red 5V in the picture) does the trick...

click here for the full version of the diagram

Ps: Haha, yes the filename is because one older member couldn't read the chips - so I made a high-res picture with my dslr for people that are somewhat blind :)
I have the same screen and this wiring does not work for me.

Does anyone have identified the display model of those devices? And the driver board model also?

The few ones that I bought had no writing at the back.

Got my display in today, from this amazon US listing. Doesn't look like any of the different BW versions listed on the Wiki. Havn't tried feeding it 5v yet to see what it does.

No-go on the native 5V, had to place a jumper to the 3.3 regulator's input. See pic:

Cool! This is the exact same board that came with my 3.5" display.

I purchased mine from eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/361541873075?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

I also found the data sheet for that voltage regulator on the board. http://www.advanced-monolithic.com/pdf/ds1117.pdf

Thanks for the info on the jumper wire!

Sorry wrong link, I bought it from herehttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00 ... UTF8&psc=1 reading other people's feedback on a similar screen I think I don't need to convert it?? If I don't which pins do I connect each wire to on the pi zero for me to test. I am new to this so will thank you in advance.
