A doubt about the cartridge reader

Post by musty_666 » Tue Aug 30, 2016 9:29 am

Have the microSD inside a cartridge is an awesome feature, and I want to do it with my Game Boy Zero. The fact is in my zone all the people that sells original game boys puts them in a very expensive price, and my doubt is: Is there any way to buy the cartridge reader separately? And, Game Boy Color/Pocket have the same cartridge reader? Cause GBC is more cheaper than DMG01 and I will buy the custom shell in another page.

I have seen around that even a Nintendo DS gameboy advance slot on the bottom will also read and work just fine wormy himself in his latest video also stated this and picked himself one up. No expert just going on what people have said, so I would possibly suggest looking for a gameboy advance slot from a DS on it's on and see if you can pick one of those up cheap?

In terms of the cartridge itself, you can buy the PCB that someone has made:

Then finally you could just pick up same with your actually GB case a aftermarket cartridge case also sold by someone on the forum i believe:

Hope this helps :D

Probably dead thread, but you can buy fried DS Lite PCBs in lots on eBay. Found a guy who sells five at a time for about $6 USD. I just bought AS-IS parts DS Lites, but when they arrived, both were semi-functional. Going to scrap one for the cart reader, screens and buttons and turn the other into a GB Macro!
