L & R Tactile switch height?

Post by Raquor » Thu May 12, 2016 2:08 pm

I'm about ready to place an adafruit order for parts for this build and am wondering about the height of the switches used for L and R. My question boils down to if these might work:

https://www.adafruit.com/products/1490

Or do they truly need to be 9.5 mm tall?

Thanks!

I am not 100% sure, but i think 6mm would be a bit small, for they have to fit into the screw holes and protrude enough so you can still push them. But i haven't tried out shorter ones, yet.

I got this size: 6 x 6 x 9.5mm/0.24" x 0.24" x 0.37"(L*W*T)

I have not tried connecting them yet but when I dremeled the case, the seem to fit.

You gotta grind down the screw holes for a fit, you can grind down to the case if nessesary I suppose

Thanks for the reply's! I had neglected to watch the first video until last night and have a better idea now of how they fit. I'm guessing the 6mm buttons might be workable but the 9's are probably preferable.

6x6x9.5's here. With some visual reference of how far I ground the standoffs. I might shave off another millimeter or two.
