Kyles first project

Post by kylepiboy » Mon Oct 10, 2016 8:29 am

Hey all I'm starting my first project and am really excited to get started. I'm probably getting in over my head but that's what learning is all about haha. Anyway I have most of my parts dilivered, and some still on the way over from China. I'm wanting to make my gameboy with the pi 3 and I've seen some people use it in there projects. But for the majority it's the pi 0 is there any wiring diagrams out there for the pi 3? And do I need to get a second sd card for all the roms? I already have an sd card for my OS. Sorry is I ask some dumb questions, I'm new to this haha

We're all here to help each other @kylepiboy .

You just need the single SD card for both the OS and the ROMs, the ROMs are loaded into the folder structure on the SD card. There are multiple ways of doing this.

Okay sweet, thank you. I'm starting the tear down and some wiring tonight hopefully. I'll post some pictures, and I'm sure I'll have more than enough questions for all of you.

No problem @kylepiboy, I've been using RetroPie on a TV box and a Tablet for a while now and there are plenty of people here with knowledge in the hardware and software sides. I've not started on my builds yet, still waiting on some parts to arrive.

Okay I'm starting my wiring, still waiting on my pi 3. Just getting everything ready for when I get the last few things. Do I need to use my penny 2.0 to program all my buttons? Or can I just wire them into the Pi? If I use my teeny 2.0 how do I wire it to the pi 3?

How are you planning on joining the two halves together? You've removed all the screw posts.

I used my knife to cut them off and I saved them so I can reuse them and be able to move them if needed for space reasons.
