For anyone experiencing the kernel panic issue on shutdown, can you please try the following and report back if the same issue happens? I'm unable to replicate the problem, so your feedback would be appreciated.

This is the command the script runs:

Code: Select all

sudo shutdown -h
This should do the same thing:

Code: Select all

sudo init 0
This may actually work:

Code: Select all

sudo shutdown -r
If this doesn't work, I don't know what will:

Code: Select all

sudo poweroff
Here is a workaround which may temporarily resolve the issue. Adding the following line to /etc/sysctl.conf will force the Pi to restart after a kernel panic. At this point, the keep alive pin should go low and shut off the PowerBoost.

Code: Select all

kernel.panic = 1
Lastly, please re-download the Power Monitor Script. I think I did a bad.

Hi there, First of all, thanks! I recieved yesterday my two safeshutdown pcbs!
Now, i see people are experiencing some trouble, and some of them relate to some ak43 guide but i don't know if it's the right thing.
Is there an updated guide for installing it? i'd be happy if someone can point me in the right direction. ;)

@marcushg You don't say what your problem is.

Doesn't seem like he has one, just that he's seeing people have problems with the ak43 wiring diagram and is asking if there's an updated/correct reference somewhere.

My switch is actually wired using ak43's diagram and it's not working correctly for me either (even after updating the script) so I would appreciate a correct reference as well! :D

@Ganreizu Are you able to most and test the ground connection for me? Everyone who is having issues seem to have the GND pin wired to G (the one beside 5V on the PowerBoost). This should make no difference, but I always use the GND beside EN on the PowerBoost. If by some freak miracle, this fixes your issue, I'll let a3k4 know so he can update his diagram.

Sure. I think it was there before and I moved it to the ground on the power strip like he has it and that probably made it worse where I don't get a shutdown for battery like I had before. I was meaning to make that change yesterday but didn't get home until 2 am. I'll make that change when I get home; maybe even finish the whole project today if it works!

Edit: Oh actually it was the micro usb ground that was there before, which is now on the power strip. The safe shutdown ground is on the bottom where the usb power/ground pins are. I'm sure if i move that it will work!

Edit2: @Camble: No difference. :/ The whole system just keeps completely shutting off no messages or anything.

@Ganreizu Have you tried disconnecting all components except the Pi?

So, we have the same wiring and the same issue.

As in disconnecting the power strip and micro usb from the powerboost?
