Have you both checked if the copper pads on the prerunnerseth's PCB make contact with the right pins on the cartridge reader? I have noticed that "poorly" cut NDS GBA cartridge readers can lead to shifted connections (due to plastic that was not or wrongly removed). You can check this out by opening the cartridge, removing the top panel and plug in backpanel+prerunnerseth's PCB into the cartridge reader. Now you can perfectly align the copper pads of the PCB with the correct pins on the reader and try to boot it. I also soldered both subsequent pins together of the reader as they are interconnected anyway meaning: pin 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8, ... I can make a picture of my working setup if needed.

This worked for me as well.
At first I only soldered every second pin, just as the layout says.
Got "failed to load udev" and later on "kernel panic".

Bridged 1+2, 3+4 etc but it still wouldn't boot properly. Pressed the cartridge to right in the cartridge reader and tada.wav, it works.
