Hey @Helder I'm working on putting my system together, but my speaker just ticks and doesn't play any sound, I saw early someone had a problem with C7 I touched. My finger to it and heard a faint ticking of music, I heated the joints and while the iron was on it it played perfect, I took a wire and jumped it to a ground and the speaker sounded amazing. But when I plugged my headphones in my left earbud was extremely hot and so was the board. Do you have any idea how to fix this? The headphones work either way but without it jumped are distorted. I'm open to anything to fix.

Spoke too soon @helder. Wired the busted pads to the areas you have indicated still no sound. I also edited my boot configuration file too.

Here you go, all alternate points for the audio circuit.

@helder,

The wiring reroute worked! The problem ended up being a dead speaker. Thanks for your help with the board I damaged! My system is up and running!

@Helder

The start and select buttons work fine in the games, but not in the raspi-config and setup menus.
I currently am using 4.02 and have reflashed the image. Sorry, I'm a noob, but when I get into the settings with the keyboard, is there a specific settings menu to go to, to change the button configurations to the gameboy to recognize "START" and "SELECT" in those menus?

I think it's available in the RetroPie menu (the system select menu) but I'm not 100% sure to be honest. I used one of the face buttons or the keyboard to make changes.

could you show me a few pictures of the wiring and some clear images of the audio amp area where c7 is? I wonder if there is something shorted else where.

I'm uploading this from my phone hope this comes through well. I feel like it's a grounding issue I've took a wire and jumped the various points of the alternate audio joints and nothing helps. I've even tried a different speaker.

First off thanks for the sweet board Helder!
I too have had some sound issues but may have found a possible work around that may help others here.
Here were my symptoms:
My sound could barely be heard and it was very choppy from the main speaker. However the headphone jack sound was loud and very crisp.
Here was my work around:
- Set my volume in alsamixer to 100%. The command is amixer set PCM -- 100%
- Set my volume in RetroPie to 100%
These two changes made my volume from my main speaker acceptable. However it was still very choppy. I removed the choppy sound by changing my sound to mono. Changed the config.txt file to this dtoverlay=pwm,pin=18,func=2

Now my sound out of my main speaker is acceptable in volume and in quality. However I still want to figure out why my main speaker does not work in stereo mode. Does anyone have any ideas? Here is a picture of my wiring.

The last post only helped the choppy sounds actually include some music but still extremely choppy again when I press on c7 it starts playing again but this time I had it playing very well then it got really choppy again.. is there somewhere I can jump c7 to, to test or bridge the circuit in case it's broken or something? I believe this would fix the issue I'm having.

@helder

Im getting choppy sound when I use the battery power that is wired as you previously provided to correct the damage I caused to the board. When I plug power directly into the picture zero it isn't choppy. Any suggestions?
