Having the same issue. I have the bw screen sold by e-life and mine is setup exactly like the pictures. Same problem. Should I post pics as well?
Maybe we need to mod it to run on 5v? Even thought this board has been confirmed to run without mod?
I have the same screen as both of you guys. Bought it from vendor she-love. The screen needs minimum 6V and an active video source or else it will remain blank/black and appear like it's off. I'm working now to desolder the IC CHMC C0B 1509-5.0 but it's super buried around those four capacitors. Gonna be a hard squeeze to get in there.now everythingis fine
Yup. I can confirm this. Last night I hooked up the screen to my wii and powered it through the pi board. Worked great. My problem was I didn't have an active video source. My screen works fine on 5v without any mod.

I have this BW screen and was working fine without an issue over 5v

Now it's glued in the shell it's starting to flicker and now always turn on, do I need to run a cable from a IC pin? Or does it need the IC chip? After the screen sorts it self out it stays on fine. Then if I turn it off and on it still works fine. If I leave in off for a while the problems start again. Any ideas?

The solutions is right in this very thread. In the first Post.grenade44 wrote:I have this BW screen and was working fine without an issue over 5v

I am going to use mine with an active VGA to HDMI Adapter. I hope this will fit into the case. It is getting cramped in there.Popcorn wrote:@Cannikin Are you using your 640 screen with composite video or with VGA and an HDMI adapter?
Thank you Camble for the information.
Thanks.Popcorn wrote:.. Also, it looks like you are missing my other alibaba screen.
Also maybe the wiki is a better location for this info?
Oh, yes? Which one?
Sure, i am going to collect them now until i find the time later today to create the wiki pages for it.

Awesome. I just added mine to the wiki. It's listed as the xianjie one and the BW Variant 2. Thanks!Fleder wrote:The solutions is right in this very thread. In the first Post.grenade44 wrote:I have this BW screen and was working fine without an issue over 5v

As it worked fine without any problem I didn't think it would need doing. Thanks I will do that tonight.Fleder wrote:The solutions is right in this very thread. In the first Post.grenade44 wrote:I have this BW screen and was working fine without an issue over 5v

Re: Collecting information on alternative displays - please contribute
Here's some info on another BW screen from Amazon.com. This one's from ATian Direct, but looks different from the ones from ATian Direct in the old forums. See below for pictures - the board is huge (approx 95mm x 55mm), and won't fit in landscape orientation in the DMG case. Because of this, I didn't bother removing the screen from the enclosure, so I don't know its exact measurements. I've included pictures of the box so you can return it without opening it if you don't want it.

Came accross this http://www.gigaparts.com/3-5-LCD-Displa ... ry-Pi.html seems they have the screen in stock. Postage costs for me are way too high even more than the screen so going to give it a miss.

Got the Amazon.com screen from niceshopping, does not work with 5v out of the box, worked great with a 12v ac adapter from my router though

Thanks, but could you please post the dimensions, too? As listed in the wiki.
There should be every information that is needed.
