thanks for this, my pi zero w would not detect any usb device so would not boot, soldered those two pads now it works!!PolletjeNL wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2017 12:35 amSoldering PP40 to PP35 will result in canceling the OTG, and will give you the change to use any USB Hub. PP40 is the crossover pad from the backside of the microusb connector's OTG pin. PP35 is GND. I have been using this for a while now in my Zero builds.

Re: Potential fix for USB pad problems
Came here to say thank you for this! After 6 hours of debugging wires for my USB audio sound card RogerX in chat recommended this post and wow, it worked!
After soldering a tiny jumper wire to connect PP40 and PP35, my audio works!
You can also just leave an empty OTG cable in the data USB port and the same thing happens.

Re: Potential fix for USB pad problems
Hey all
I have a few SAIO boards and have come across the infamous "no usb hub LED" issue several time
Sometimes it's temperamental, sometimes it's always.. ..well, you get it, same problem y'all have
First off, the problem is NOT with @Kite's SAIO board, the problem is typically either the Raspberry Pi 0, or the solder
1. On the Raspberry Pi 0 W (wireless) i could swear that the USB test pads are slightly closer, thus making them more susceptible to shorting.
2. Your soldering. Too much, too little, too hot, too cold. Again, temperamental.
So the good news... ...if you have really F'd up, you will NEVER be able to remove your Pi 0 (unless you have a hot air rework station), and thus i present you my solution. For existing boards, and those not yet built
1. Get yourself some Micro USB DIY kits (they look like this), and you can read all about the pinouts here
2. You ONLY need to connect two wires to the Micro USB (D+ and D-), YES, really
3. Use the USB cable (4 wire JST SH) that comes with @Kite's kit and solder D+ and D-
4. Now connect, the USB micro to the Pi and the other end to the SAIO
5. Clean it up 6. Success Feel free to PM me if you have any questions

Re: Potential fix for USB pad problems
So with this method, i don’t need to solder the USB pads from Pi to SAIO ?
Re: Potential fix for USB pad problems
Correct
That this method does is connect the Micro USB dongle to the SAIO board via the 4 pin USB Hub connector provided in the kit

Re: Potential fix for USB pad problems
This should be stickied/added into a guide of known issues/resolutions.Once I soldered the two connectors, my USB hub worked perfectly.
