Does the pi start to boot up when you power it on ? (green led blinking??) if so, there is an issue between the pi and the screen.
I have studied your pics, but i can't see any short or anything, it seems ok..
But, in any case you must have a signal going to the screen, if there's no video signal going to the screen, it will NOT lit up.
Maybe you should check if it boots, the led is right next to the camera connector on the end of the pcb.
In case it boots, and you still have no screen lit up, please connect a stripped usb cable to the + and - of the screen and connect a RCA source to the screen (for instance a dvd player, or camera or anything that has a yellow tulip output) if the screen lits up after this you can confirm that the screen itself is o.k and that there's a problem between the pi and screen.
And like Zeroboy said, remove the red wire, idk if he means the 5v mod wire, but i am speaking of the red + wire you used from the pi to power the screen, you should NEVER connect it there, the pi output is around 3.3volts wich is not enough, the screen needs 5volts and needs to be connected straight to the powerboost 5volts, the little red wire going to the chip, you can solder that one back there, because it needs that mod to work anyway.
P.s if you use the pi to power the screen, it drags away power from the pi, wich may the cause of your trouble with the keypresses because the buttons dont have enough power for instance..

Hope i helped you, let us know how it turned out.

Hi 144Tech
I have been able to see if it boots by connecting to a mini HDMI. it boots okay but unfortunately the most important button to use does not work the A button. start and everything else works and sometimes goes rouge when your not pressing it. I think something is wrong with the pi. The button reaction time is slow too so you are probably right about that. I will try your tests on the screen to diagnose with your suggestion that is an incredible idea. Do you know if the rca needs to be 2 wires for left and right like white ground and red ground or are they individual? I know thats kinda a dumb question... Thank you very much for your help guys! I will update after I trial.
Thanks again!

Hi, Questions are never dumb, not asking them is much dumber :D

The screen has 2 inputs, called av1 and av2 for instance av1 yellow wire(+black ground) and av2 white wire (+black ground)
Now, one of those two is priority AV, for example you connect the screen to a dvd player in your car , and hooked up the other av to the rear parking camera, if you put the car in reverse, the priority AV takes over (because the wire get's switched to the other), and you will see the image of the rear camera, as soon you put it in gear again, it breaks the av, and you will see the dvd player again automatically.
You can use one of the two inputs separately, as long as you connect yellow and ground (black) or white and ground (black)
There can't be much wrong with the pi, you are dragging away the power wich is given to the pi because you connected the screen to the pi's power, wich now has not enough power for its usb, or other things wich result in weird things,
You should just connect the screen to the powerboost, --> http://imgur.com/a/L6rdM ,or another 5v source, NOT soldered onto the PI (only the video wires offcourse  ..)
I think it will be allright if you follow my last post.
Let us know, have a nice gaming !

P.s they are 2 individual inputs, AV1 and AV2, AV1= yellow and gnd, AV2= white and gnd.
You can choose one of them, likely AV1

I did the image you made for me here:

And also the one you described here wiring into the USB and plugged into my phone charger.

None worked :-( I think my screen is toast...
I never saw any sign that it was changing or lighting up. Could it be the ribbon wire or something? before I order a new screen?
Thanks so much once again!

Try using your screen with a different composite video source other than the pi and try to power the screen with 12v instead of 5v. (IF YOU POWER OFF 12V, DO NO POWER WITH 5V MODIFICATION IN PLACE, IT WILL FRY YOUR SCREEN.) Also, did you test before you modded the screen?

Wait, you soldered the 5v to the wrong pin on the ic, check variant 9 on the wiki, also remove the ic all together, i have the same board and my 5v is soldered three down from the top right of your pic. Hope this helps.

Tried a few things with no luck
Not only does the screen not work but also the A button and the usb input I wired up. Not just that I cannot connect anything via usb to it anymore. i.e If I plug my usb keyboard it doesnt work either. I might get a new screeen and pi and strart from there. Im so frustrated
But thanks for all your help guys. I was hoping to have it ready for my trip to Mexico but Im leaving in 3 days. I was also kinda worried that it would be seized at customs looking suspicious or something

Don't get rid of it, it could be that you soldered the 5v wire in the wrong place like NSultana says, but i'm not sure, there's a wiki topic about screens and how to connect them on 5v, it contains a wide range of displays so yours should be in there too.
As for the button idk what's wrong it could be just dirty or short somewhere..
Please report after your trip, when you fixed all these things and post it here.

Have a nice trip, hopefully we see you later here.
