Fried screen?

Post by Fredl » Sun Aug 27, 2017 7:55 am

Hello lovely people,

I bought the 1up 2017 kit and I think I fried the screen. I tested it after the first solder steps and it worked, but now its only showing a completely white screen. So my guess is I noobishly fried the screen bord while soldering?

I dont really know what I'm expecting as an answer here, but maybe someone knows what's going on..?

Yeah I know that picture. Here's how it went:

I got the screen prehacked without the two connections I loosened in my pic. I tested it and it worked fine. I soldered those two (thinking they had something to do with power rather than signal). Now the screen didn't work anymore. So I removed the connections again. Still not working....

just so that i have this right.....

the screen came without the two jumper connections, and you added them...

the screen came with the two jumper connections, but you decided to desolder them.....

if its the first, contact your seller and see if they can do something (dont tell them you added connections)....

if its the second, i'm at a loss you might have to buy a new screen.....

i am doing a build with this screen, but decided not to butcher the board up as much as 1UP did (but he needs to to get everything to fit in)

This one!

I bought it via a "proxy-dude" from singapoore who's super chill, and I dont want to claim it was broken when it really wasnt....

Anyways, I bought the 'Alternative 1' screen from amazon, and hope I won't get into spacing issues in the case...

Ah sorry yes. Wow, I didnt realize it was torn down that much :-O

One last question: Do you know where to acquire one in case the other doesnt work?

this is who i bought the screen from (took about 2 weeks to the UK for delivery)....

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-3-5 ... 0.0.3Fjy0u

the price has gone up a bit, i bought it for around $19.... if you keep an eye it or search similar (also available on eBay and Amazon) you may get it slightly cheaper....
