I2s audio crackling

Post by Woodr009 » Tue Sep 19, 2017 6:15 pm

To anybody that can help me,
I've installed an adafruit max98357 I2S amp and the sound works but is accompanied by some crackling. Some games are worse than others which I thought was a little strange. Also, when I hold the input wires together between my fingers the crackling goes away, for some games only. I'm not sure if I'm using the wrong gauge wiring or a I need some kind of filter or I'm just getting interference. Right now I am just using standard jumper cable wiring. All my solder points have been done very thouroughly. I'm a bit puzzled on where to even begin troubleshooting this. Just wondering if anybody has had the same issue and might be able to help me. Thanks.

Posting pictures helps but it's likely the wires need shielding to block interference from the other wires and components likely close to the speaker wires or amp.

Shielding is a good path to follow as avoiding jumper wires which are really poor quality in general

Thanks a lot! I was kind of figuring it could be an interference problem. I'll research some good methods or wires to use
