Show power status using single rbg led

Hi!
I was wondering if it would be possible to use one single led to display the power status ( powered on, charging and low battery) with only one rgb led. I'm not too good at this but I'm thinking something along the lines of running 3 wires from the powerboost (one for power on, one for charging and one for the low battery) and have them as selectors to somehow output the right pwm to the led...
It seems like an awfully complicated process for something that is on most electronic devices... :/
Anyhow, does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? ^^
