it was also crazy to desolder the small resistor

old one is still alive, found it on my shelf

so the old one is 22 ohm. how much was the supplied one together with the display?
They are both 22ohm, so when put in parrallel (one on top of the other) will be 11ohm :)

Yeh the new boards just have a solder jumper so it's a lot easier :)
Just ripped the gameboy apart and soldered the second resistor on top. So now the bigger sits on the smaller one  the display is nearly 1/3 brighter now. Thank you

What resistor is on the new board? Also 11 Ohm? Is it possible to install a 10ohm instead of 11 and get the display even brighter?

I think that if it was as easy as solder a smaller resistor, Kite would recommend a smaller resistor for a brighter screen

New boards have the same config. You could go to 10ohm, the voltage at the LED (the right side of the diode by the connector) according to the datasheet should be MAX 21v, and they recomend 19.2v. On my board it reads 19.5v so you could reduce the resistance slightly (TOTAL 10ohm, not just adding a 10ohm ONTOP) and check it's at 21v or below and that should be fine :) generally this LCD isn't as bright as the 320x240 one
Yes sure, just one transistor with 10 ohm.

Do you mean diode D3? So I need to measure the right side of the diode to any ground pad?
