Care to elaborate on why it's so perfect? :D

I just ordered mine but will also be putting it aside for probably the whole summer :)

Probably just the sheer size and dimensions relative to what we require to fit the pi board in it. I'm expecting to have to take the GPIO pins out to fit it the way i want but other than that it shouldn't be difficult to do everything besides getting the buttons to work.

Yep, the size more than anything. Should be able to fit a nice big battery in there. Plus lots of useful buttons (besides just the actual abxy/lr etc) I've got ideas for. :D

I'm mostly concerned with how we get the analog sticks to work, what to do with the TV button, and if the power button will work as is (the guy in that youtube gamepad project said that type of power button causes some problems.).

Probably because it's a momentary switch, but you could just wire it to GPIO and have the pi perform a shutdown sequence rather than cutting the power to the pi which isn't the best.

What's it look like for fitting a full size pi in there? Or does the zero seem like the best option?

Honestly if you can fit a full size pi in a gameboy you can fit one in a gamepad. It's seriously far more room than necessary.

And yeah we would definitely use graceful shutdown, it's just a matter of if the switch itself will work or if we need a more physical switch.

I don't know if I'd be so quick to assume that there's a ton of room in one of these.

I think it will all come down to how much you want to modify the case. The left and right sides inside of that shell are taken up by the control boards, and the middle area has the display restricting your height. The battery pack holder is also very inconveniently placed, and will probably have to go entirely if you want to achieve a good amount of depth in the middle. Otherwise I think we'd be stuck using a Zero somewhere, but I'll be able to get a better look at it once mine arrives.

I still think there will be plenty of room. :) You can get some pretty high capacity batteries that are very thin (pretty big in the X/Y but very thin). Even if the battery compartment needs to be removed completely that's fine with me.

So, i guess we don't have to discuss anymore what wermys next project will be :D

Don't let me discourage though! I'm just sharing my concern, and hopefully I'm wrong. I'll probably end up either putting a Zero or CHIP in mine, only because I want to keep the battery holder in-tact so I can use the same size battery that the Wii U has, maybe one with more juice though.

Only time will tell ;)
