Ok, I have it all put together and it is basically finished! The only thing that really went wrong is that I accidentally soldered off the lead to the usb, "PP23", so I don't think I can get the usb to work. It works for charging but wont recognize any devices. I'm not sure if I can solder the wire to some other location, maybe on the opposite side of the pi?

I wanted to say thank you to 'rodocop' for all the help and I plan to take some pics and post to the "Show-off Corner" soon!

Well that is too bad. But you can fix it. Two ways:
1. You see those little traces coming off of pp22 and pp23. You can actually find a spot where the two traces are not too close together and scrape a bit of the green layer off to expose some copper. You can solder your wire to the trace. And then cover with hot glue to hold it in place. It won't hold super well to the trace which is why I recommend the glue.

2. Take a micro usb cord. Cut the end off and leave a few inches of the data wires exposed amd plug it in and use those instead of the pp22 and pp23 pads. This will be the easiest, it will just take a little more space since you'll have to have that plugged in.

Ok, I will try option 1 and see if I can get it to work. Thanks!

Ok, I appear to have run into a problem with my audio again. When I boot up the system I get audio on my video splash screen, then after more of the system loads up I can hear the speaker "shut off" and I don't get audio in the menu or in games. I checked to make sure it's not muted. I'm assuming it's some sort of software conflict or something. I'm going over everything I've done to see what it could be but nothing seems to jump out at me. Any ideas?

Hmm. That's seems odd to me. I don't think anything in the software would cause that. Especially since it is a fresh image.

How do you have the amp powered? When you hear the audio cut off can you measure the voltage on the amp to make sure it is still getting 5v?

It is very odd, especially because it was just working the other night. The only thing I could think of that might have changed is I added the video splash screen and I might have updated the core packages or something.

I don't have anyway to measure the voltage at the moment. I am powering the amp from the raspberry pi's gpio, I connected to the 3volt because I think the amp was 2.5. Should I connect to the 5v?

My battery just died on me, is it possible having a low battery would cut the power to the speaker?

It's possible for a dead battery to cause issues. Also The amp will run on 2v to 5.5v (according to adafruit) Try to connect it to the 5v supply from the power strip instead of the pi's gpio.

So, I tried using another sd card to check and see if it was a software issue. Upon boot up I can hear the speaker power on and it stays on.

But now I have another issue :(

On my fresh install I am trying to setup everything but my usb port doesn't seem to be taking any input now. On my other install I have the wifi already setup and I am able to connect through my computer. Is it possible for me to setup the wifi on the sd card on my comp and then plug it into the pi? I might just try to fix my older install but I haven't found any reason it cuts out the audio.

I think I found a tutorial on how to enable wifi from pc. Trying it out now.
