Update: v2.1 board upgraded to v2.2 to support 6-button arcade style buttons.

UPDATE: Added debouncing delay for the Pro Micro on the v2.1 tinkerBOY controller to fix multiple input issues.

You can download the code at http://www.tinkerboy.xyz/arduino-usb-gamepad/

Code works with the latest Arduino IDE. DON'T FORGET to disable analog stick support if you're not using any.
