Hello,
I am in the process of building my first Gameboy Zero (the original wermy version), but I have run into a problem. Cue Story:
I wired up almost everything in the Gameboy with the exception of the volume knob. I then decided to test out Gameboy -I plugged a battery into the PowerBoost and flicked the enable switch on. The PowerBoost made a loud squealing noise for about a second, and then the Raspberry Pi booted into RetroPie as expected. I was able to configure and use the Raspberry Pi for about a half hour without any issues. I then ran the update commands: it was at some point during this that the PowerBoost stopped working. The PowerBoost shut off and then turned back on again while making loud squealing sounds. (These lasted for the entire time the PowerBoost was on, not just for a second.) The Pi started to boot up, made it to the rainbow screen and then shut off and rebooted, after this, the PowerBoost restarted again -this repeated several times and then abruptly stopped.
Using the PowerBoost, I am unable to run the Gameboy. Each time I attempt to use the PowerBoost, these issues occur. I verified the Pi still works by bypassing the PowerBoost and running power through the Pi USB port. Everything worked 100% normally this way.
I am unsure why my Gameboy does not work with the PowerBoost. Is this a common issue? I contacted Adafruit who is sending me a replacement PowerBoost, but I want to make sure I did not do anything incorrectly. If it helps, I can create a wiring diagram of the system.
If you have any ideas what may be causing this, please let me know.
Thanks for your help!
