Hi everyone,
Today just arrived my gaboze pocaio, but only the pcb. I already have all the parts ready to rock except the screen. I've been discussing about display sizes with some of you in other threads, and finally I'm going safe with the 2.8" because in this built I want to make a very simple gameboy without altering its original aesthetic adding only R and L triggers to play only the gameboy series.
Looking for some 2,8" ili9341 18 pin displays, I can't find them except china (aliexpress or ebay shipped from china too)
https://es.aliexpress.com/item/2-8-inch ... 91730.html
I don't want to wait a month or more only for a screen, so I want to know if it's possible to buy one of these screens that have a pcb mounted, take out the display and make it work with the gaboze pocaio, I put some examples:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/inch-240x320-S ... 341+2.8%22
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Waveshare-2-8i ... re+2.8inch
Also, does anyone knows if there are custom gameboy pocket glasses like the gameboy dmg has? At least one that hasn't the original frame, all transparent so I can print a custom frame underneath and make a right window to the display visual dimensions.

Well. The 2.8" will involve more cutting of the case and you'll have to remove the top two screw posts and have to find some other way to close the case .
As for ordering, these are the screens I suggest.(use epacket option for shipping and they arrived to Canada in 3 weeks)
2.4

2.8

Those amazon ones would work (1st one for sure) but you'd need to desolder the screen. Which may not be ideal if you haven't done it before. You also want ones with no touch (touch layer takes extra space and may need to be removed anyway.)

Re: Need help with the gaboze pocaio
Finally I bought the the one with the red pcb, let´s see how destructive is the process of desoldering haha.
I've seen in this post https://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312 the following image:

It's exactly the red pcb screen that I bought, and I see that only has 14 pins on the main ribbon connector, can I connect anyways the ribbon with 14 pins leaving the 4 remaining on the gaboze pocaio pcb? I've read that the 4 last pins are for touch, so probably will work anyways? Also, I think it's possible to remove the white frame so I can reduce even more the size of it and have the bare display without nothing more.
Oh man, you saved me again, I found this:
https://www.bluishsquirrel.co.uk/produc ... creen-lens
This glass is perfect for a custom screen size, which I will need since I'm aiming for an 4:3 wide for fitting snes, nes etc... resolutions. The cutting part is inevitable, but I will remove all the internal walls of the shell for space anyways, glue the screen at the front face to fit closer to the glass and probably move the screw pillars 1cm to the top.
Again, thanks man for saving me again

Re: Need help with the gaboze pocaio
as for the screen with 14 pins, if the last 4 pins are for touch, then yes, you should be able to just leave them...But I cannot confirm if that is the case.

Re: Need help with the gaboze pocaio
Id play it safe and get the 18 pin bare screen modules instead, best to use what is proven working, taking out the guess work.
